Message of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
November 25 is not only a day of remembrance, but a powerful call to action to end one of the most widespread human rights violations in the world: violence against women.
This violence is not limited to physical abuse. It includes psychological, sexual, economic, and digital forms of harm—each of which undermines women’s dignity, safety, and full participation in society. This issue knows no ideological, geographical, or social boundaries, and it must come to an end.
Ending this phenomenon requires comprehensive, collective, and coordinated action. Governments and legal institutions must commit to strengthening and updating laws, ensuring fair implementation, holding perpetrators accountable, and challenging harmful cultural norms that enable violence. At the same time, providing high-quality, accessible services—such as shelters, legal support, and psychological care—is both a humanitarian duty and a legal responsibility.
At the community level, every one of us—especially men—must be active partners in this struggle. Through education and awareness, we must promote a culture of respect, gender equality, and zero tolerance for all forms of violence.
As the 16 Days of Activism campaign begins, we call for an end to silence. Let us unite to build a world where all women and girls live free from fear, with their full rights protected and respected.
Today, we honor the dignity of women who have suffered from discrimination and inequality, and we salute those who bravely defend their own rights and the rights of all women.
