
Statement of the First Congress of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation
On December 13, 2025, with the attendance of the esteemed Shifa Barzani, General Supervisor of the Kurdistan Movement, the First Congress of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation was held in Germany under the slogan “One Voice and One Struggle for Freedom and Equality.” The congress aimed to establish a strong foundation for the future work and activities of the Women’s Federation across the world, with the participation of 80 congress members.
The congress began with a moment of silence accompanied by the anthem “Ey Reqîb” to honor the souls of all martyrs. The opening speech of the congress was delivered by the Federation President, the esteemed Shirin Zaki.
The following speeches were then presented:
- The General Supervisor of the Confederation of the Kurdistan Movement
- The esteemed Amina Zakri, member of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party
- Speech by the Kurdistan Democratic Party of the Kurdistan Movement by the esteemed Shifa Barzani
- The esteemed Dr. Ismail Kamel, President of Iran, represented by the esteemed Shahen Zadahmad
- The esteemed Fariba Mohammadi, Deputy Secretary General of the Komala Party of Kurdistan Toilers
- The esteemed Maria Flogir, lawyer and advisor to the Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation
A documentary about the struggle of Kurdish women between yesterday and today was also screened.
One part of the morning program was honoring four Kurdish women selected from all four parts of Kurdistan, each possessing unique struggle, capability, and talent, who have been able to serve Kurdish women. They were the esteemed: Bonia Jigarkhwin, Dr. Chenoor Qadri, Gulala Sharafkandi, and Nejla Chamlibel. Appreciation was also presented to the advisory board and several other distinguished individuals who supported the Federation’s work in the past. The final part of the morning included performances of Kurdish songs and music.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Congress Preparation Committee announced the completion of its work, and the Congress Management Committee was formed. All other committees successfully carried out their tasks. Then, the future staff of the Management Board of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women’s Federation were elected.
Notably, the congress concluded its work by adopting several proposals and directives for its future work. Loyalty and respect were reaffirmed for those distinguished individuals who supported the successful organization of the Federation’s first congress, and simultaneously, the Management Board pledged their commitment to serving the women of Kurdistan.
