Two Activities Held in Moscow: Commemorating Anfal and Launching the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation

 Yesterday, August 25, 2026, in the Russian capital of Moscow, a major event was held to commemorate the 38th anniversary of the Anfal campaign and the victims of the Kurdish genocide. Simultaneously, within the framework of this event, the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation in Russia was officially inaugurated.

At the beginning of the conference, Shirin Zaki, the President of the Federation, delivered a recorded speech warmly welcoming high-ភ្ավ guests and friends of the Kurdish people, including the Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Russia, the Consul and Deputy Ambassador of Iraq, as well as public and academic figures.
In her speech, speaking on behalf of herself and all members of the Federation, the President of the Women's Federation expressed special gratitude and deep respect to the great leader of the Kurds, President Masoud Barzani, for his continuous support and patronage of the Kurdish women's movement in the diaspora. She also extended special appreciation to Mr. Shifa Barzani for his dedicated supervision and sincere efforts.

Highlighting the historical significance of this institution, she stated that the Federation is not merely an official step, but a symbol of unity, strength, and cultural revival. She noted that the Federation will serve as a vibrant stronghold for preserving the Kurdish language, art, and values, passing them on to future generations, with the role of women as guardians of national identity taking precedence. Furthermore, in another part of her speech, she vividly recalled the pain and tragic chapters of Kurdish history, urging that the memory of the Anfal victims must always be kept alive to protect future generations from similar disasters.

The event was organized by Seda Musoyan, Representative of the Kurdistan Diaspora Women's Federation, and Muhammad Savinic, member of the Federation, with the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Russia.
A number of prominent figures attended the event, including:
 Khalil Abdulridha Muhsin Al-Adili (Consul of Iraq in Russia) and Mustafa Ahmed (Deputy Ambassador of Iraq).
 Yuri Nabiyev (Deputy of the State Duma of Russia).
 Aziz Askarian (People's Artist of the Russian Federation).
 A significant number of students from Moscow universities.

Notably, at the conclusion of the program, a special exhibition featuring the works of Norik Musoyan, the renowned Kurdish artist and architect-restorer, was displayed, highlighting the artistic and cultural aspects of his creations.
